After spending 20 years visiting all 197 countries, I’ve been thinking about one question heading into July 4th.

Not: “Is America the Greatest country in the world?”

But: “What made America so inspiring in the 1st place? ”

Here’s what I’ve learned.

Every country does something exceptionally well

Italy taught me beauty.

Japan taught me precision.

France taught me St. Tropez is expensive.

Brazil taught me fun.

Kenya taught me joy.

Every passport stamp gave me something.

But America gave me something different.

A belief.

Not perfection.

Possibility.

Maybe America’s greatest contribution to the world isn’t Hollywood, or Wall Street, or Silicon Valley. Maybe it’s something we Believe.

That where you start doesn’t have to determine where you finish.

That you can reinvent yourself.

That an ordinary person can build an extraordinary life.

That’s the America I still see .

Not because we’ve perfected it.

But because we’re still chasing it.

I’ve seen incredible countries.

I’ve met extraordinary people.

And every place has something to teach us.

But if there’s one thing I hope America never loses…

It’s that belief that the future doesn’t have to look like the past.

Because that’s true for countries.

And it’s true for people too.

This weekend, celebrate possibility.

The possibility that your best chapter hasn’t been written.

The possibility that your biggest dream isn’t behind you.

The possibility that one decision could change everything.

Because that’s always been my favorite thing about America.

The audacity to believe that anything is possible.
