“Be where your feet are.” – Sean McVay

I spent this week in St. Tropez with 40 friends celebrating something wonderfully ridiculous.

One of my best friends opened a salon in France.

He doesn’t cut hair.

He doesn’t speak French.

He did it anyway.

Courage .

A few days later, we were having lunch when someone looked across the restaurant and said “Isn’t that Sean McVay?”

It was.

The head coach of the Los Angeles Rams.

My buddy is a diehard 49ers fan.

Then he asked one ridiculous question.

“What if we bought him a bottle of champagne… and sent it over with a 49ers sign?”

I immediately said,

“If you do it, I’ll film it.”

So we did.

This could’ve gone horribly wrong.

Instead…

Sean McVay laughed.

Played right along.

Class act. Took it like a champ.

The entire restaurant erupted.

Two rivals.

One bottle of champagne.

One unforgettable moment.

We posted the video.

20,000 views.

Then 200,000.

Then 2.5 million.

Now more than 5 million.

ESPN. NFL Network. Sports Illustrated.

Even the 49ers joined the fun and posted about it.

Ironically, millions of people now know about Blake Charles Salon.

Not because of a haircut.

Because of one spontaneous moment that had nothing to do with hair.

But here’s what I’ve been thinking about ever since.

The best stories rarely begin with a perfect plan.

They begin with one ridiculous question.

“What if?

And then someone else just crazy enough to answer…

“Let’s do it.”

Because courage takes you places caution never will.

This week, ask one ridiculous question.

“What if?

And if someone answers,

“Let’s do it.”

Don’t be the reason the story never happens.
