“The electric light did not come from the continuous improvement of candles.”-Oren Harari
The gold spaceship pulled up. The butterfly doors opened like magic.
No steering wheel.
No pedals.
And absolutely nobody driving.
UNREAL.
And yet, there I was. Riding around Austin, Texas in Elon Musk’s latest gold spaceship on wheels: The CYBER CAB.
It was breaking brains, crashing assumptions, and infinitely…WOW
The same magical nonsense happened in Spain at the world’s #1 restaurant, El Bulli.
The don’t give you a menu before dinner.
They give it to you AFTER.
You had no idea what was coming next.
The menu wasn’t a list of choices.
It was a souvenir of everything you just experienced.
BRILLIANT.
Think about that.
A car needs a steering wheel.
A restaurant needs a menu.
SAYS WHO?
Years ago, I read a fascinating book called Disrupt by Luke Williams.
His big idea: The greatest innovations often begin by challenging the assumptions everyone else accepts as fact.
Does a car have to have a steering wheel? No
Does a restaurant have to have a menu? No
Do you have to do things as they have always been? Also No.
What if everything you take for granted…is actually up for grabs .
Dash of Courage
Find one thing you’ve always assumed has to be done a certain way and ask yourself:
What if the opposite were true?
Forget what you know.
Question what you’ve always accepted.
Have the courage to imagine something that doesn’t exist…yet.
After all, the future doesn’t need a steering wheel.
Courage over comfort,
