“A candle loses nothing by lighting another flame.” – James Keller
This week, I stood beneath the night sky in Chiang Mai, Thailand, surrounded by thousands of people holding their dreams with both hands.
One by one, we lit our lanterns.
5,000 small fires flickered to life.
And then, like courage catching fire, they began to rise.
It was one of the most Wow things I’ve ever seen.
I first discovered the Thailand Lantern Festival (called Loy Krathong) from an Instagram post seven years ago. I saved the post immediately. One day, I told myself, I’ll be there! Seven years later, I finally was.
Here’s what struck me the most:
With thousands of lanterns floating upward, the sky never felt crowded. Each one rose at its own pace.
Some soared high. Others drifted low.
But together they turned the darkness into light.
Isn’t that life?
So often we hesitate to launch our idea, our dream, our story because we think the sky is already full.
Someone’s already done it.
Someone’s already said it.
Someone’s already better at it.

But here’s the truth.
The Sky Isn’t Crowded.
There’s room for your light too.
The world doesn’t need one big flame. It’s needs thousands of people brave enough to release theirs.
When you light your lantern, you don’t steal the spotlight, you expand it. You give others permission to rise, too. That’s the power of courage…it elevates and ignites.
Dash of Courage
Light the lantern you’ve been holding.
Launch the project.
Share the story.
Make the call.
Because the sky isn’t crowded.
It’s waiting for your light.
