With a college acceptance letter in hand and a calling to something more, I chose a different path. One filled with both New York City lights and Catholic nuns.
Instead of going straight to college, I chose a gap year. A year of self-discovery, service and silence. My year in the convent was unlike anything else.
I learned that both sacrifice and simplicity are beautiful. That stuff is stuff and that rich people and poor people are still just people. That a conventional way of life is a boring one and that love brings the greatest of adventures. No one is guaranteed tomorrow, so for today, choose fearlessness.
